Plantation Drive Yearling Area

The yearling area of our Plantation Drive Farm comprises 25 acres divided into 3 pastures.  Fencing is 4 board oak reinforced with livestock mesh. Yearlings have access to a natural creek as well as automatic waterers.

Each pasture has access to run-in shelters and a barn where the youngsters can avoid sun, flies and rain.

A caretaker lives on the premises providing 24 x 7 supervision.  The young stock have plenty of pasture, receive 2 types of feed specially formulated for yearlings and have 24hr access to 3 types of mineral and protein licks.

Plantation Drive Weanling Pasture

This is a view of the West End of the 25 acre weanling pasture. Mares and their foals are transported here at one week of age and live here until weaning. Foals are socialized naturally and interact daily with other horses which may include our extremely docile stallion as our Shire and Clydesdale broodmares are pasturebred in this pasture. Pasture breeding is the most natural, common, sensible and safe method for breeding the large draft broodmares.  Our stallions are gentle and are available for hand breeding of outside mares. Foals and mares are supervised 24x7 by a live-in caretaker. Special protein licks, salt/mineral, sulfur and supplement licks are provided in addition to plenty of grass, hay, and two types of pelleted feed. All foals are imprinted, gentled, will pick up all four feet, accept a halter, respect humans, load and lead from one week of age.
