Ransome is the only horse that we have had who has been so versatile as to require 3 webpages. He is a horse who is FAR MORE beautiful in person and for a long time we didnt put much up at all as each picture that we took just seemed to fall so far short of the mark. When we take him places people alway ask things like "Love your Irish Draught - where did he come from?"... He looks more like an Irish Draught than many on the market...
Ransome can do it all. From being a quiet dressage mount in the arena, suitable for a mature rider, to being a hell bent for leather staff horse for someone who needs a bold and carefull jumper who can go all day, to an elegant carriage horse, to an awesome and enjoyable trail riding partner virtually anyone can ride.
This is a rock solid, sound horse who has been described by the farrier as "a gentleman". Ransome is in our active rotation, being schooled cross country and is now hunting his 2nd season and being used as a whip horse this year. He is great horse for a strong rider who wants to ride first flight and lead the pack over anything that comes his/her way or alternately a nice hilltopper or 3rd flight horse for someone who wants to enjoy a leisurely "trail-ride" type hunt.
Although quiet and rateable, Ransome has the capacity to go very fast and keep up for quite some time. This is a rare quality in a horse of his size. On October 3, 2009 Ransom had the overall fastest time in all divisions at the Colonial Fox Hound Hunter Pace. Ransome is a suitable mount for staff or first flight rider and will excell and hold his own head and shoulders above the thoroughbreds in any of Virginia's most prestigious hunts.
10/18/09 Ransome has been whipping for Lynhaven all season.
