August 14. 2010: Frost had a colt this spring and he is weaned and so she is back in the riding rotation. She was literally pulled in and ridden..she rode beautifully. This is a nice, comfortable mare suitable for any level rider except absolute beginner. She is nicely forward and would never take off or do any thing bad, but if an absolute beginner were to "go fetal" on her with loose and thumping legs, she would trot on until they sat back...many of our others would just stop. This is an ever so slightly forward mare with the feel of a pony. My riders love her...she is fun. Great with the farrier, loads and travels like a veteran.
December 21, 2008: Pulled Frost from the pasture this cold, wet, wintery day for a new rider and she was fabulous. Took her to a covered arena with calves penned along the sides, she could have cared less. The rider commented that she picked up her leads perfectly and stopped on a dime. Note: The rider in these last 3 pictures is 5'11". I probably should measure her again as she appears to have grown..
Frost is a 2004 Clydesdale cross filly. She's a rich sorrel with a silver mane and multi-colored tail. Very unique coloring! She is a nice, big, athletic mare. Currently standing 16.0HH, she should reach 16.2HH.
Frost is going quietly under saddle. This is an amazingly balanced mare for her age. She tracks nicely and collects into a frame already. Frost naturally engages her back and hindquarters when moving, even out in the field!
January 2008: This mare is just Fun, fun, fun!! Note how neatly she tucks. Hacking out alone!! This was her first outing to Locust Hill Preserve, a hunt fixture for Bull Run Hunt Club, after she hadn't been ridden in a month! Easily clearing obstacles along the trail, she demonstrated tremendous potential for jumping. She would excel as a hunt horse. |
