Seamus is 18H. Broke to ride and drive, single and double, pulls a sleigh.. He has been trained, ridden and attended the clinics of several well known trainers and accomplished riders including to name a few:

Steuart Pittman, Julie Goodnight, Thomas Nilsson, Colleen Kelly, Ed Dabney and Pat Boone.

Is very responsive to leg and moves beautifully.... His driving training has prepared him for dressage movements such as turn on the haunches and sidepass... Hacks out or rides in the ring alone or in company.... Can be ridden by junior riders and advanced beginners.

Jumps solid obstacles effortlessly up to 4' and with no regard whatsoever... The nicest gelding on the farm....Easy and fun to ride in the ring or on the trail... Traffic safe.. Super sweet quiet and friendly...plays well with others...smooth comfortable ride, NO VICES... Check out our gallery to see pics of Seamus and Fiona swimming in Lake Anna.

This is the ONE horse that EVERY visitor comments about... A true DREAM HORSE!!!

Seamus has hunted first flight with Bull Run and Keswick in 2006-2007 and was hunted lightly with CFHH during 2007-2008. Along with Lakota and Fiona, he is ridden primarily by VSH owner Liz Booth and the VSH pro riders. Seamus is a one in a million horse and we could not find another if we tried, even with our Shire Sporthorse breeding program, it will take us 5 more years to produce a horse worthy of filling Seamus' shoes.

Sept 2008. Seamus continues to perform in the Extravaganza's, performing throughout the East Coast as an example of the athleticism and sporting ability of the Shire Sport Horse.  Greatly enjoyed the Steuart Pittman Eventing Clinic and the Julie Goodnight clinic at the NC expo. I have footage of this by request and pics are on the gallery. He was ridden in the Spotted Draft Breed Demos by Liz friday night and 11 yr old Leah Frahlin on Saturday and Sunday. Leah and Seamus also led an off the cuff  "American Horse Idol" performance on Saturday which was just darling. Since I lost Lakota to colic this summer, it looks like Seamus and Fiona will be my hunt  horses this season. They have been getting in shape attending hunt and club trail rides such as the Bull Run Hunt Trail ride, Rusty Stirrups TR, Princess Anne Hunt Trail Ride etc. Liz and Jamie have also been riding these two locally and most recently took them "swimming" at Lake Anna... See our gallery for pics.

October 2007

Seamus added a second year of participation in the Virginia Equine Extravaganza to his resume. This year he was definitely the star with the possible exception of Rocky the Trick Mule who was the winner of the American Horse Idol Competition.

The VSH Booth (Seamus, Fiona and Ned) definitely garnered the most attention and traffic in the breed pavillion. Seamus, along with Fiona, performed a Shire Sport Horse breed demo each day and Seamus also participated in various clinics such as Equistretch and a Julie Goodnight Clinc on Show Ring Presence and Strategy. Seamus greatly enjoyed his stay in the breed pavillion, adding some "tricks" to his repertoire, picking up and waving his feed tray into the aisles to panhandle "horse cookie samples" from passers by. We were less amused when we removed the tray and he promptly emptied his water bucket into the aisle to put it to a similar use... Maybe we are just going to have to teach that boy to jump into the back of a pickup truck, balance 3 legged on a seesaw, and do dressage from leg aids so that he can challenge Rocky the Mule next year!
