Clay is a 2012 3/4 Shire 1/4 QH Gelding. He is sired by a 17.3H Reg. Shire Stallion. He is BLACK with a blaze and two white stockings. He is quiet and sensible. He was measured in Dec 2015 at 15.2 with 5 inches of growth, he is likely 15.3H now and will finish 16.2-3H. He is a solid framed horse suitable to carry a large rider.

4/16/16 update: Claymore is a solidly built short coupled gelding with a leg in every corner. A balanced and even keeled unflappable fellow who is uncomplicated and built to carry and balance weight. He is an excellent choice for a heavier rider who isnt interested in a 17-18H horse. Solid arena skills, easy to catch, self loading in a trailer, picks up feet easily, stands tied patiently for hours. Great out on the trail with dogs, has been to the kennel numerous times and just doesnt give a rip, good with vehicles and gets gates. Well prepped for foxhunting.

2/22/16 update: Sensible, quiet, typical draft temperament wrapped up in a classically handsome hunk of a horse. Very solid fellow who is an excellent candidate for a larger rider. 100% sound and sturdy. Self loading in a trailer, good with the farrier, clips in cross ties, gets along beautifully in a large mixed group. Hacks quietly and is prepped for foxhunting, would also make a nice lower level dressage mount.

9/28/15 update: Claymore was started in March, but had a rough time shedding his 3yr caps so he was out to pasture until receiving clearance from the vet and dentist. He came back to the program as if he were a 10 yr old horse that had a week off. He will be an excellent candidate for many riders, however he would be a perfect candidate for a mature heavily built person, even a timid rider struggling with balance...he is built like a brick house, and incredibly balanced and has an extraordinary smooth uphill canter. All that and just a happy go lucky temperament to boot.

7/11/15 update: Claymore was started under saddle in March and is super sensible and a very quick study.  Friendly, lovable kind of guy.

I'm not certain that he has the same dam, but is essentially going to be a slightly taller more muscular version of our Blue Chip. If purchased prior to gelding will provide a breeding certificate and free handling for our Spet 9th AWS Inspection ($250 value)

Blue Chip - sibling: Reference Only (these are pics of 1/2 brother Blue Chip as a 3yr old standing 15.3H...destined for 16.1. Claymore is likely out of a taller dam and should be a taller horse.

3/5/15 update: 4th day under saddle! Nice quiet and surprizingly quick to learn!

6/23/13 update: Coming along beautifully. Looks a lot like Blue Chip with more Shire influence visible. He has more of the Shire build, longer neck, typey Shire-like front end, upright neck coming right out of wither, nice straight leg. Taller, cob-like build, will be suitable for lower level eventing, dressage and fox hunting.
